Researching Twitter in the wild
During the recent Twitter redesign, we wanted to understand the issues people would have with the new version prior to launch. In thinking about the best ways to learn this, we decided that it was crucial to learn how people experienced the new version over time. People use technology differently when they are in a lab setting than when they are checking Twitter for 5 minutes waiting in line, or when they are responding to a question from a friend. I will cover the methods we used to address this research question and how it informed our design process.
